MonoMerge: free point scoring puzzle app

iPhone 스크린샷 1       iPhone 스크린샷 2

MonoMerge is a point scoring puzzle app game. The object is to connect adjacent tiles – 1 at a time – if they are identical. For example: two 4′s will merge to form a single 5.

MonoMerge looks like Threes! and 2048. It’s really not because all the tiles stay in place, except for the merging ones.

Blank spaces are filled with only 1′s & 2′s.

This is where the game should be more interesting: the grid should be 5×5 and the blanks should be replaced with 1′s, 2′s & 3′s.

The highest tile I got was 10. My high score is 3060 which places me 8th out of only 45 players.

MonoMerge is a decent game and should definitely be play-tested. Can Gulbol 제작 is the author.

SubaraCity: point scoring puzzle game for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

The object in SubaraCity is to increase your city’s population by merging smaller houses into bigger houses and really big houses into skyscraper apartment buildings.

Look at the bottom of the first image. See the brown apartments? The one on the left is an ’8′ and the one on the right is a ’9′. Merge them to form a 10. Once a building becomes a 10, it then turns white.

Suppose you combine 10′s: two of them will form a yellow 11.  However, you cannot combine any building over 10.  The key strategy to scoring BIG, is to get a super cluster of 10′s and then merge them all at once.

SubaraCity was created by Ryuji Kuwaki. A typical game for me is getting 2,000,000 points and that takes about 15-20 minutes.  My high score is 32,927,440 which ranks me  at 4268 out of 144,509  players.  I got by combining fifteen 10′s. It led to a level 24 building.  That particular game took over an hour.
So now I’m trying to beat my top score. Extremely difficult. Here’s what’s been happening: I get a cluster of twelve 10′s and then am forced to merge them. The resulting 21 building (I know – why isn’t it a 22 building?) becomes a dead space on the board. So I end up restarting the game. Which makes me despair a bit.

SubaraCity is in the running for a PAGY Award. (Nominations: check back on December 30th.)

Numbermania – Join the Numbers: free point scoring puzzle app game for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 2          iPhone Screenshot 1

Vladimir Golovnev has produced a terrific point scoring puzzle app game called Numbermania – Join the Numbers.
This game is NOTHING like 2048. Look at the first diagram.  See the 1 + 3 = 4? That will score you zero points.  See the 3 + 3 = 6? That will score you 6 points because the colors were different.
Each time you Join the Numbers, a new number/color will fill the grid. The random number can only be 1-4.
There will be times when you must connect brown numbers to each other. Eventually, you will need to combine them with an identical number.
I’ve played this game about 20 times. I had 1 marathon game that didn’t seem to end. At one point I had a blue 73 and somehow managed to create a green 73 right next to it.

The graphics will not dazzle you. But that’s okay. The brilliance of this game comes down to this: what strategy will you employ to stay alive as long as possible. Yes there’s an element of luck. But with very careful planning, can you stay alive forever?

According to the Game Center, there are 1,137 players.  The high scorer is DivODA with 36,912. Next is ~ Aas1962 ~ with 27,302. I’m at #3 with 22,696 points. That one game took about 4 hours.

HexAgony: point scoring puzzle app

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 3

HexAgony is a fine point-scoring puzzle app. The objective is to place the colored card symbols in the grid to score points.  Placing a diamond next to a cluster of diamonds scores one set of points. If your diamond is blue and is next to some other blues, you’ll score points for that too.

Each time you place a symbol, a new one will pop up at the bottom, randomly.

The game ends when the grid is complete.

The game has 3 grid sizes. I’ve played the smallest grid a handful of times.

There’s a lot to like about HexAgony: good graphics, a leaderboard, the game cannot go on forever. However, there’s something missing: an element of fun. It could be me of course, I’ve played so many games, I may be hyper critical. If more people play it, as evidenced by the leaderboard, I’d be more interested.
According to the leaderboard today: on the small grid, I’m #5 out of only 24.  The large grid: only 7 people are on the leaderboard. That’s kind of shocking. This game definitely deserves more attention.

21 Dice: point scoring puzzle app game for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 2 iPhone Screenshot 1

21 Dice is a point scoring puzzle app that involves a little luck. The object is to score 21 on each of the dice. The more times you do it, the higher your score.
The first time a die reaches 21, you get 1 point. The next time, you will score 2. You get the idea.
Pay attention: suppose a die has reached 21 for the 10th time. That die will not go back to zero, it will now start at 10.
I was skeptical about this game. But I think it’s pretty good. I’ve played it about 20 times now. My high score on the classic mode is 577. Which I think is pretty good. Right now there’s no leaderboard.

COLORswipe: point scoring puzzle app game for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 1          iPhone Screenshot 2

Tyler Ruetz recently contacted me about his point scoring puzzle app game COLORswipe. The object is to score points by combining adjacent colored tiles.

Blue + red = purple
Blue + yellow = green
Red + yellow = orange
Purple + orange = brown
Purple + green = brown
Green + orange = brown
Brown + brown = Black
Black + black = Diamond

There are a bunch more rules but, I want to keep this relatively short.  I’ve played this game about 12 times and really like it. I confess that I don’t fully understand the scoring rules. But that’s okay.
There are only 254 players on the Leaderboard.  I’m #2 with 100,389 points.  #1 is somebody named TylorTy with 8,715,582 points. That’s right, his score is 87 times my score. He’s a legend.
COLORswipe is free, so there’s no excuse to not play test it.

+1 number: free point scoring puzzle app

iPhone Screenshot 1      iPhone Screenshot 2

+1 Number is a very good point scoring puzzle app game. The objective is to tap on any number to increase it by 1 so that there is a group of three or more identical numbers.

Here’s what happens: first, you score points. No idea what the formula for that is. Second, you get a bonus move.  The game ends when you run out of moves.

At the start of the game, you are given 5 moves. If you can’t create a set, you lose a move. If you get a massive chain reaction, you’ll get bonus moves, but never more than 5.

This game can go on for a very long time.  My high score is 204,170 which took about 25 minutes to play.   The leaderboard does not seem to be working for this game.  I like this game.

Zerooo: free point scoring puzzle app for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 1

Zerooo is a fast game. The object is to tap on the 1, 3 & 7 until the big number gets to zerooo. The game ends when time has expired, or you over subtracted into negative territory.

There’s a time limit: when you succeed, you get a few more seconds.  My high score is 19.

The problem with this game is that for every game, the 1, 3 & 7 never change.

Four Straight Lines: point scoring puzzle app

iPhone Screenshot 2

Four Straight Lines looks a lot like 2048, but it’s nothing like it. Except for the fact that you must swipe the tiles in any direction.  If 4 of the same color make a line- vertically, horizontally or diagonally, they disappear & you get 4 points. After every move, a new tile will appear randomly.

My high score is 508. The top scorer on the leaderboard is ikkejessica with 1988. Very impressive.

Theoretically, one game, played perfectly, could go on forever, I think. Similar to Stickets. Although I think Stickets  is more elegant and sophisticated.
I should mention that Four Straight Lines is FREE.

TimeCube: point scoring test-your-reflexs game for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 4

TimeCube comes from Michal Syzmerski. It’s a game that tests your reflexes. It’s different from so many other games that test your reflexes.

You are the red hexagon at the bottom. It stays in place and never moves.  Various things shoot in from the top left with different horizontal speeds and a constant gravity speed. The objective is to not let the objects hit Your Man by slowing down and speeding up the horizontal speeds.

It’s an interesting concept. According to the leaderboard, there are over 17,262 players.  I’m not very good at this game! I’m dead last of 17,266 players because I wasn’t able to solve the first level. My consolation: somebody has to be last, and I’m still first on Tripevo.
