xorbs By Code Sharp Limited

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

xorbs is an interesting puzzle app game.  The object is to transfer the circles to their targets.

iPhone Screenshot 3  iPhone Screenshot 5
There’s a lot to like about this game.
Look at the first image.  See the small vertical line? Tap on that and the top row swaps with the bottom row. See the X?  Tap on that and there’s a diagonal swap.
Look at the last image. See the orb with the wizard hat? He’s in his purple home, which means you can activate his power.

There’s one element that I don’t like: having to finish a level within a given time.

Cosmic Express by Draknek Limited $4.99

iPhone Screenshot 2

Cosmic Express comes from Draknek Limited. They came out with A Good Snowman is Hard to Build from about 2 years ago. That was a great game.

iPhone Screenshot 3

The object of this game is to find a route that will pick up the orange & purple people and deposit them in their boxes. If you played RGB Express from 2.5 years ago, you’ll get the idea.

iPhone Screenshot 5

Cosmic Express definitely borrows the concept or RGB, but that’s okay.  In many ways, this game is has some good innovations like wormholes.

Most importantly, Cosmic Express is tough! But with enough fiddling, they’re all reasonably doable.

There are approximately 120 levels.  I’ve done about 40.

$ 4.99 is reasonable, considering it’s led to about 4 hours of fun, so far.

Disjoint by 2056516 Alberta Limited $2.99

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

I started Disjoint about a month ago. The object is to swivel triangles around each other on various pivot points so that all the triangles will fill up the shaded areas.  Some triangles are isolated. They have to be rescued in a chain-like way.

Then I forgot about this game. It’s hard to get back into a game when so many new games are getting published every week.

There’s a lot going for this game. The puzzles are clever. The graphics are crisp and clean. After each chapter there is a picture story about a pig and a man looking for wisdom.

I’ve completed the first 2 chapters, which totals 24 levels, I think. I’m definitely coming back to this game. This game needs more attention.

Somewhere on their webpage is this: IF WE HAD ANY AWARDS, THEY WOULD GO HERE

Which reminds me, I have to get going on the famous PAGY (Puzzle App Games of the Year) Awards. The nominations will be December 30. The Finalists will be December 31.

Burokku by Entity3 Limited Free

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2
From the App Store:
Burokku is a brand new unique and addicting puzzle game

Simple tap the coloured blocks to move them left, right, up or down

match 2 of the same colour blocks to remove them, clear all the coloured blocks to complete each puzzle

Burokku is stylish, addicting and a great workout for your brain

iPhone Screenshot 5  iPhone Screenshot 3
Look at the 2nd image.  The blue piece on the right only travels up and down.  The other blue travels left/right.  The orange at the top moves horizontally while the one at the bottom moves vertically.

These puzzles are trickier than I thought they’d be.  There are only 28 levels, which I really like, and at the moment I’m stuck on 12.

Regarding the graphics: generally fine. But I’d like there to be some markings that signify which direction a piece can travel.  It’s not always obvious.

Treple – Original Number Puzzle Game by Fluid Pixel Limited Free

screen4  screen1

Gareth Slack: Game Developer/Artist and Stuart Varrall: Designer/Chief Complainer are the brains behind Treple – Original Number Puzzle Game , which is a point scoring puzzle app game.

screen2  Your Logo iPhone Screenshot 1
The game board is a 5×5 grid with numbers 1-5. The object is to change 1 number to form a string of 3 consecutive numbers.
Look at the last image. The instructions: add 1.  Obviously, tap the 2 on the right.
Adding 1 to a 5, makes it a 1.
Scoring Points: There is a multiplier that is essential. Your first set will likely yield 3 points. The string disappears and new numbers randomly fall in. If you can find/make a new sequence, you’ll get those 3 points times two. After that, times 3. Etc.
According to the game makers, the highest multiplier so far was times 212. Phenomenal!
How is that possible? Pops. These are earned and then used – strategically.

The Leaderboard has 2 categories: Total High Score and Total High Score without Using Pops. I played this game for a week, without even realizing Pops existed. At the moment, I’m #2 in that department.

Treple has a lot going for it: simple to learn, great graphics and interesting concept. If you’re careful, one game can take 45 minutes.

Tchisla: Calculator Game with Numbers by HORIS INTERNATIONAL LIMITED Free

iPhone Screenshot 1 iPhone Screenshot 2

Tchisla is a math puzzle.  It’s very similar to the Four 4′s Puzzle where the objective is to represent the numbers 1-100 using four 4′s.  I tried that one almost 20 years ago and missed a few numbers.

Description from the App Store:
Tchisla is a really absorbing number puzzle from the creators of Euclidea. Explore the magic world of numbers and train your mental arithmetic skills. All you need is to represent numbers as arithmetical expressions using only one of the digits from 1 to 9. This can be done in various ways. You gain more points if your solution uses fewer digits and sometimes your way to the optimal solution looks like an exciting quest.

You can use standard arithmetic operations +, -, *, /, and brackets, extract square roots (√), raise to a power (^), and apply factorials (!). The factorial (n!) is the product of all positive integers less than or equal to n.
For example:

96 = 99 – √9
96 = 4 * 4!
96 = 2 * 2 * (22 + 2)
96 = 111 – (1 + 1)^(1 + 1 + 1 + 1) + 1
2048 = ((5 + 5) / 5) ^ (55 / 5)
