Logic Dots 2 by Ayopa Games LLC FREE

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

Logic Dots 2 comes from Ayopa Games LLC.  The object is to place the dots in the grid to satisfy the number of dots specified for each row & column.  At the same time, the dots must form clusters that match the ones at the top of the screen.  See image #2 for an example.

The App Store Gods highlighted this in their New Games We Love.  I do not love this game. Nevertheless, I’ve done over 100 levels. They’re fast. But I must move on to something more worthy.

Dots Color Match – Tap & Connect Puzzle Game

iPhone Screenshot 2                       iPhone Screenshot 4

Alan Kong  has come up with an interesting test-your-reflexes game.  As the colored balls fall from the top, you must rotate your polygon by tapping and catch the red balls with the red side etc.

It’s a good game. But the speed picks up too quickly for me.  In any case, it’s another good game/exercise to ward off Alzheimer’s.

Circulate Dots: free point scoring puzzle app game

iPhone Screenshot 1 iPhone Screenshot 5

Janardhana Guptha has an interesting point scoring puzzle app game called Circulate Dots.  The objective: start at the green dot and get to the red dot by landing on it on your 6th turn.

The second image shows this nicely. The starting point was on the left (it doesn’t count) and the final 6th move will certainly on the red dot.

Where it gets tricky:
1. Tail of your last 5 lines is always present, like a snake. And you cannot retrace that path. Though you may cross it.
2. There’s a timer. The better you get, the less time is given to you.

According to the leaderboard, there are just 77 people and I’m #2.
Circulate Dots is not brilliant, but it’s different and it’s fun.

Two Dots: puzzle app game for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 1 iPhone Screenshot 3

If you look at the first image of TwoDots by Betaworks One, you’ll think like I did: another connect the dots point scoring game.  Not exactly.
Look at the second image. If you can get 4 yellow dots to form a square, that will knock out all the yellow squares on the board.
The object of the game is to solve the 130 levels. Each level will have a slightly different objective. For example, you may be given 20 moves to somehow eliminate 15 yellow dots and 15 red dots. The key strategy, almost always, is to get those square chains, which can be difficult.
At the moment, I’m on level 105 or thereabouts.
Is there a Candy Crush element to TwoDots? Yes, but because there is a lot of randomness and invitations to purchase more lives.
When I run out of lives on TwoDots, I switch to Folt, until I run out of lives on that game.
Both games have a much better than Candy Crush.
TwoDots is fun!

Puzzle Dots Game by Kejia Li FREE

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 3

Puzzle Dots Game comes from Kejia Li. It’s one of those ‘all the dots move in the same direction at the same time’ type games where the object is to get the dots to their respective rings.

iPhone Screenshot 4  iPhone Screenshot 5

The graphics are excellent. The level of difficulty does not seem to vary very much.

I did the first 100 in about 10 minutes and part of those 10 minutes was used to fast forward through tv commercials.  I did the last 100 levels in about 20 minutes. Altogether there are 1200 puzzles.

If you like this genre, definitely try the harder games listed below.

Similar games (this list is incomplete):

Movez  Pretty much the same as Block Mania but it has 1680 levels. I’ve solved 592 of them. That’s probably enough.
Frozen Ice Cubes  What’s different: there’s a point of ‘no return’.
Escapology, reviewed by Nicola Salmoria. He told me about this game ages ago. I played it and enjoyed it, but never blogged about it.
Block Mania Similar to Movez
Move Puzzle – A Funny Strategy Game, Matching Tiles Within Finite Moves
Vubu What’s different: the vubu men have different powers. Very sophisticated, very intelligent. Possibly the very best in this genre.

Splashy Dots by Crimson Pine Games FREE

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 4

Splashy Dots looks like an abstract art game. In essence: it’s a maze game.

iPhone Screenshot 3  iPhone Screenshot 2

The object is to start at the black dot and move horizontally and vertically and get to the black ring. Along the way, every other circle must be visited once and only once.

There have been other games similar to this one. However, Splashy Dots does not allow jumping over dots.

There are thousands of levels.  I’ve done about 10.

Dots Pairs by Miguel Garulo FREE

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

Dots Pairs comes from Miguel Garulo. It’s very similar to Oggoelement (see link below).  The object is to get matching colored balls to crash into each other and go poof.

iPhone Screenshot 3

The puzzle has that Lunar Lockout feel: objects will travel until they hit another object and objects cannot drift off into space.

There are 50 levels and I’ve solved them all. Which means they might be a bit too easy.

According to the Leaderboard, there are only 9 people playing Dots Pairs. Do Miguel a favor and download it, because it’s free. He’s probably spent a lot of time making the levels, the graphics etc. So many puzzle app developers experience this same thing: apathy.  It’s a good game.

Miguel: if you’re reading this – get rid of the ads that pop up in the middle of the game.

More About that game Dots Tails……from 2 Loyal Blog Followers. Also, watch this PUZZLE video 3 times!

Loyal Blog Follower Shy Hong Konger wrote probably the lengthiest and best comment in the past 6 months.  It deserves its own blog entry.

I tried out your game based on your recommendation. I found 2 solutions for Level 98 (the level you are stuck on). Here is a screenshot showing one of the solutions (the other solution is just a trivial variant):

I agree with you that the game itself is not very engaging. The puzzles seem derivative, lack cleverness, and require excessive trial and error. A reason for the derivativeness is that it is trivial to generate extremely complicated puzzles because both the values of all of the numbered tiles and the starting values of all of the chains are entirely arbitrary. Consequently, you can simply start with an arbitrary layout of numbered tiles, draw out arbitrary paths for an arbitrary number of chains, sum up the values of the numbered tiles each chain crosses, and then set the starting value for each chain to each sum. The design of this game mirrors many design properties of Sokoban. It is trivial to work “backward” to derive the initial layout of the puzzle once you have a solution in mind, but it is not trivial to work from the initial layout to discover the solution.

Andrew Juell  also chimed in via email: Thought I should let you know this appears to be a blatant clone of ‘Sum Tracks’ which I first saw on kongregate some months ago.

Watch this puzzle video 3 times!  Michael Karas made it. He’s a serious juggler. About 3 years ago I saw him in a juggling show with Jen Slaw, another fine juggler. The show was called Perfect Catch.

One more thing about the video: it didn’t work on my ipad, but did work on my laptop.

Dots Tails: free puzzle app game for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

Andrew Kyznetsov is the author of Dots Tails. His description: ‘Dots Tails – is a puzzle game, an intergalactic time accelerator, with the goal of helping Captain Square gather his tails!

Somewhere in the far far galaxy, Captain Square was waging war against the triangle invaders. In one of the heavy battles his ship was seriously damaged, but the captain’s own spirit was not broken; he understood that he had to retreat, or he would be captured by the hated triangles. An intergalactic jump ship was launched. But something went wrong. The computer set a route right through a giant quasar. When the captain found himself in it, he noticed that he had turned into a huge string of dots, and his intellect had ceased to be a single whole, the whole world consisted of his past, present, and future woven together. In order to escape from this trap, he must gather himself together piece by piece. With his last smidgen of strength he calls on you for help!’

iPhone Screenshot 3

Each squared number must travel over the circled numbers to get to zero.  Look at the 2nd image.  See the 6? It’s going down, then to the right. The 5 is going to the right and then snake up & to the left. The 3 at the bottom is going straight up.
As you pass over a circle, that circle will disappear, unless the circle has a dot or 2 dots underneath. Each dot represents an extra life for that circle.
There are approximately 200 levels & I’m stuck on 98.
Dots Tails is a good puzzle app. But I’m moving on to other puzzle apps.

Lines: Connect the Dots – free puzzle app game for ipad

iPhone Screenshot 1         iPhone Screenshot 3

Lines: Connect the Dots is another topology puzzle app.  Remember last Friday’s review of One Line: Circle & Conquer.  These are basically the same thing. Although that other game is much harder.

Today’s game has 75 levels and I solved them in about 15 minutes. If you’re having trouble with One Line: Circle & Conquer, switch to these. Once you know the trick, these become so easy!

I had a little trouble with one level because the dots were tightly packed and I was allowed to draw illegal lines between points.

There’s one level with 3 stars that I particularly liked.

Hey, this game is totally free.
