Color Combine Game by Sam Hogan FREE!

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

When I was about 4 years old, I was given a toy that fascinated me. There were 3 circular clear plastic sheets stapled together in the center. Each had 1 circle of color: red, blue and yellow. From that, I learned how to combine the colors to make green, purple and orange. Putting them altogether was some kind of brown.  Color Combine Game, from Sam Hogan, is a puzzle where the objective is to combine adjacent tiles into 1 big pile whose final color matches the background.

The first few levels are trivially easy. But then things get pretty tough. Getting the exact shade of pink or teal or cyan can be extremely tough.  My instinct is to just tap out all the permutations until I stumble on the right one.

At the moment, I’m stuck on level 19. According to the Leaderboard, there are not many other players.

I contacted Sam about the number of levels and he told me: it’s infinite.

Definitely interesting and hard.

Color Kakuro by Chi Wun Li Free!

Color Kakuro- screenshot thumbnail       Color Kakuro- screenshot thumbnail

Color Kakuro is nothing like genuine Kakuro (formerly known as Cross Sums).  A better title would be Color Minesweeper. Oh well.

Color Kakuro- screenshot thumbnail        Color Kakuro- screenshot

Each square is either blank or is an actual clue.  Suppose a clue square has 1 yellow, 1 red, 2 green and 0 blue. That means that the surrounding blank squares will have 1 yellow, 1 red, 2 green and 0 blue.

Most of the levels have unique solutions.  There are 200 levels ranging from beginner to master.

At the moment, I’ve done 150 levels. I positively love this game and it’s totally free – provided that you do all the levels and not skip around.  The ads are annoying, but that’s still okay because I can’t get enough of this.
Another negative: the program crashes every so often. I uploaded the latest Ipad software, and the game still crashes. But I keep playing it.
Let’s end on something positive: these puzzles are hand-crafted.

Winter Color Spin – free dexterity puzzle app game for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 2  iPhone Screenshot 4

Do you remember Pop the Lock? That’s a fabulous dexterity puzzle app game.  Winter Color Spin is related.  The dial spins. When it’s in the area of the same color – tap the screen. It will change direction and change color.

It’s definitely fun. My only qualm is that the shades of blue are not as distinct as I would prefer.  Better to use Black, Orange, Blue & Purple. Just my opinion.

Brett Wharton is the author. Winter Color Spin is FREE. So give it a chance and get on the leaderboard.

Color Shift Puzzle By Oleksandr Shchotkin Puzzle app for all devices

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

Color Shift Puzzle comes from Oleksandr Shchotkin.  It’s another point scoring puzzle app game.

iPhone Screenshot 3

It’s a ‘match 3 colors puzzle.  Here’s what’s different: the game starts with a blank interior (see the second image).  You may move – all at once – the pieces up/down or right/left.’

The 4 color version is way too easy.  I was relieved when I died at 25,000.

The 6 color version – my high is about 1000. I’m very curious how high others can get. Particularly those who really take their time.

I really like the graphics. What I don’t like is that the leaderboard is being run by google somehow.

Blocks & Shapes: Color Tangram

iPhone Screenshot 1    iPhone Screenshot 2

Andres Baksai’s Blocks & Shapes: Color Tangram is not exactly a tangram puzzle.  The object is to fill a rectangular grid with different shapes.  Again and again via 1010 levels.

iPhone Screenshot 3

At the moment, I’ve done a few easy levels and a few expert levels.
Andres Baksai claims that his puzzle is the ‘only puzzle with curved pieces’.  Hmmmm. I doubt that claim is true. However, I can’t name another packing puzzle app that does have curved pieces. In any event, I find his curved pieces puzzles to be more fun than the others.
I think these are good puzzles, but the 1010 levels is a turnoff. How can I possibly make a dent in that?  This game would be much better if it had only 100 levels – then I probably would have done a lot more.
This reminds me of another puzzle app game that came in 2 versions.  The free version had 1000 levels, while the premium had 10,000.

Color Dotz Avoid By Gong Jieyi

iPhone Screenshot 1  iPhone Screenshot 2

Color Dotz Avois is a dexterity puzzle app game.  The object is to avoid the spikes as Your Blue Man traverses along the circumference.  At no time is the entire circle visible. At most, only 90 degrees is visible.

Very tough.

Color Square Puzzle Game: free puzzle app game for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 1   iPhone Screenshot 3
Miroslaw Zielinski has made a game very similar to Game About Squares.  His is called Color Square Puzzle Game. It may be a complete clone. It may be original.  I’m not sure.
There are 60 levels and I’ve been stuck on #25 for a while.

Tom’s thoughts: this game is similar to a few other games. Unfortunately, I don’t remember those titles. I solve all 40 of the ‘hard’ 7×7 levels.  Not so hard. But still fun.

Dots Color Match – Tap & Connect Puzzle Game

iPhone Screenshot 2                       iPhone Screenshot 4

Alan Kong  has come up with an interesting test-your-reflexes game.  As the colored balls fall from the top, you must rotate your polygon by tapping and catch the red balls with the red side etc.

It’s a good game. But the speed picks up too quickly for me.  In any case, it’s another good game/exercise to ward off Alzheimer’s.

Color Shape Tile Puzzle: free puzzle app game for iphone, ipad

iPhone Screenshot 2              iPhone Screenshot 1

Nick Waters has produced a solid puzzle app game called Color Shape Tile Puzzle. The object is to place all the tiles onto the grid by following the rules from the first image. Essentially, either color matches or the shape matches.  It’s an interesting variation on the traditional edge-matching tile puzzles. (I have a friend who regularly attends the International Puzzle Party; he has an enormous collection of edge-matching puzzles.)

There are 4 levels of difficulty. The easiest uses a 4×4 grid, while the hardest uses a 7×7 grid. I’ve solved puzzles at each difficulty level.

The puzzles seem to be randomly generated each time. Which is good and bad. Good, if you want to keep playing this game forever. Bad, if you’re the type that wants a set of 50 or 100 levels and solve them all with a sense of accomplishment.

I like this concept. However, there are multiple solutions, which make the expert levels not that hard.
